Specialising in the civil construction industry, AES provides comprehensive training pathways for individuals and organisations, including Certificate III in Civil Construction and Certificate III in Civil Construction Plant Operations as well as a range of training and assessment for heavy plant and equipment used within the civil construction industry in Tasmania.
Operating across Tasmania with training facilities in Hobart, Launceston, and Ulverstone, as well as onsite training at other locations, AES is distinguished by its team of trainers who are active industry specialists, ensuring practical, current, and relevant skill acquisition. As a recognised leader in safety and compliance, AES is an AustRoads approved provider of Temporary Traffic Management training. They provide specialised training for Traffic Controllers and Traffic Management Implementers, aligning with the National Training Framework for Temporary Traffic Management in Tasmania. Whether through traineeships or short-course training, AES maintains close relationships with industry to deliver relevant outcomes.
Temporary Traffic Management Training (TTM) at AES
At AES we offer training for a range of temporary traffic management (TTM) workers.
The courses for category 1 roads, which are most of the roads in Tasmania, include:
Traffic Controller 1 (TC1) Skill Set
2 days face to face training with a required work placement of 20 hours practical, directing traffic in a TTM workplace within 6 months of the course completion date.
Traffic Management Implementer 1 (TMI1) Skill Set
2 days face to face training with a required work placement to complete 3 different set ups on category 1 roads within 6 months of the course completion date.
TC1 and TMI1 Combo Course
Complete training for both above skill sets over 3 days face to face training with a required work placement of 20 hours practical directing traffic in a TTM workplace and complete 3 different set ups on category 1 roads within 6 months of the course completion date.
TTM Non Practitioner Courses
All of the above courses are offered as Non Practitioner training for professionals who need to understand traffic management rules, plans, and frameworks but do not perform hands-on duties on the road. This pathway is suited for off-road professionals who require theoretical knowledge to approve traffic management plans, audit work sites, or conduct operational oversight. Participants attend the same initial classroom/theory classes but are required to complete the work placement component.
Short Term Low Impact (STLI) TTM
Temporary Traffic Management Course – 1 day (7 hours) face to face. STLI is for worksites which are short term and have sufficiently low impact that a site-specific risk assessment has determined that the work can be undertaken without the use of a Static Worksite.
Utilities Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) Worker Accreditation Course
1 day (7 hours) face to face for workers employed directly or indirectly by a utility organisation that provides basic public needs such as water, gas, electricity or communications.
All above courses have a prerequisite requirement that participants have successfully completed training for CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry and hold a construction induction white card prior to attending the course.
